2006/2007 Gippsland Field Days Steer Trial Results
Congratulations to Geri Fargas of Lindenbrook Pastoral Co. in Bunyip, Victoria for her successes in the competition.

  • Radford Award for best individual Carcase 1 & 2 with a Bazadais X Angus (82 points)
  • Highest Carcase score for a Pair Class 1 with Bazadais X Angus cattle (average score of 78 points)
 
2006 Beef Week Rockhampton
John & Kathy McFarlane principals of Greenmount Bazadais stud in Mackay, Qld were the most successful exhibitor of the Stud Cattle section. With 29 ribbons including 2 Champions in their classes and 4 trophies.

  • Greenmount Monty placed 2nd in his class and also created a lot of good comment being 884 Kg at 25mths with a massive eye muscle area of 140cm (photo)

  • 2nd place – Garbrook Zara.  19 mths.  Sire: Jindalee William.  Dam: Notre

There was a good showing of Bazadais cross cattle with 20 entries.

  • Champion Fat Beast won by Roy Laverty’s 14 month old Bazadais cross Angus (25% / 75%) steer (photo)
  • Pen 3 steers over 12 months – 2nd place – M. Borger with 1 full blood, 2 Brahman cross
  • Single steer under 12 months – 1st place R&D Laverty with 7/8 Bazadais
  • Pen 3 steers under 12 months:
    • 1st place R&D Laverty with 7/8 Bazadais, and 2 Bazadais cross Angus (50% / %50)
    • 2nd Ross McManus  Bazadais cross
  • Single heifer over 12 months – 1st and 2nd place Mark Borger with Bazadais Brahman cross
  • Pen 3 heifers over 12 months – 1st place Mark Borger
  • Single heifer under 12 months – 1st place Ross McManus with Bazadais cross
  • Pen 3 heifers under 12 months – 2nd place Ross McManus with Bazadais cross
